Checklist for Interviewing Entertainment

    CHOICES
  • In what type of music/musical group are you interested (duo, band, orchestra, etc.)?
  • Will have live music or a DJ, or both?
  • Will the group have a vocalist(s)? Do you have a choice of vocalists?
  • With a DJ, will you be able to meet with your MC/DJ?
  • Other Entertainment: callers, demonstrators, fireworks, bagpipers, etc.
  • Can you see and/or listen to a performance (CD or video available?)
  • Number of hours and overtime fees. Is there part-of-an-hour billing for overtime?
  • Can you get the names and phone numbers of previous customers?
    LOGISITCS
  • Who will be your Master of Ceremonies?
  • Price per musician and for extra staff?
  • Start and end times for each phase of the affair
  • Are your entertainers familiar with your venue(s)?
  • A written, detailed contract
  • Policy about breaks (for erst and food)
  • Choice of set-up locations(s)
  • Review a detailed contract that includes any special choices or requirement.
  • Choose from and/or list any special song requests.
  • If someone of your entertainers will be your MC, discuss the schedule for the day and give him/her the list (names, times, text copy, etc.).

    AT THE CEREMONY
  • Type of music
  • Number of musicians
  • Type and number of instruments Selections the organist or musicians will play
  • The Procession
  • Bride circles the groom (some Jewish weddings)
  • Cantorials & blessings (some Jewish weddings)
  • After Exchange of Rings
  • The Recession
    Traditionally: Wagner's "Bridal Chorus" for the procession and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" for the recession.

    BEFORE THE RECEPTION
  • Background music: choose the type, tunes, instrumental and/or vocal

    AT THE RECEPTION Music can ne played . . .
  • as guests enter
  • as the bride and groom enter
  • during the eating portion of the meal
  • during the dancing/entertainment portion of the meal
  • List your special songs requests for special people/first dances, etc.
